PIW would like to continue to introduce you to some of our instructors over the new few weeks. We are pleased to introduce to you another instructor, Camille L. Shepherd:
Camille L. Shepherd
Camille L. Shepherd is an attorney who has practiced law in both the private and the government sectors. She has professional experience and has provided service in the areas of Labor and Employment Law, including Equal Employment Opportunity Law, Wills, Business Organization, Contracts, Entertainment, some Real Estate and Family Law. She is licensed to practice law in Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Originally from North Carolina, Ms. Shepherd attended and graduated from Howard University School of Law with her juris doctorate degree. She also received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, magna cum laude, from North Carolina Central University. Additionally, Ms. Shepherd attended the George Washington University where she completed graduate work and received a Certificate of Public Management.
Highlights of Attorney Shepherd’s career include: (1) being selected to serve as an American Bar Association Labor and Employment Fellow for three years; (2)being selected to attend the prestigious ALRA Academy (Association of Labor Relations Agencies), which provides special training to attorneys who serve as the primary advisor or general counsel to labor boards or labor relations agencies; successfully representing management in employee appeals,(3) serving as the primary Attorney-Advisor to D.C.’s Labor Board (the Public Employment Relations Board), which, inter alia, resolves disputes between D.C. Government Employees and Management and (4)being successful in arbitrating and settling a major group grievance involving the “Acting Duty” pay clause of the CBA and saving her agency a large sum of money. She has also been privileged to serve as a Guest Lecturer at the University of Maryland on a Constitutional Law and Title VII Discrimination Law Issue. Finally, Ms. Shepherd has had the pleasure of providing services to clients in the areas of Wills, Business Organization, Contracts, Entertainment, Some Real Estate and Family Law.
In her down time, Ms. Shepherd enjoys music and is a versatile vocalist and classically trained musician who has performed for weddings and other events. Ms. Shepherd has performed at various venues and events, including, but not limited to the Greenbelt Labor Day Festival, Jaspers’ in Greenbelt on Smooth Jazz Night, Twins Jazz, the Newton-White Mansion, and various churches.
During her career, Ms. Shepherd’s professional and civic affiliations has included at various times being a member of the American Bar Association and its Labor and Employment Section, the Maryland State Bar Association and its Labor and Employment Section, the District of Columbia Bar Association, the Prince Georges’ County Bar Association, the J. Franklin Bourne Bar Association, a member of her church’s legal ministry and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
